The thing is that not every student will function the same so some kids will be able to be in the top percentile because they enjoy core classes, but what about the kids who are better at other skills? Usually there are liberal colleges but the work force are restraining from offering jobs to students who study under this field. It is being undermined, for example have you ever heard the question “what can you do with a major in English?”. In reality you can do a lot having the skill to communicate through writing or verbally is important for any job. These are simple skills that students that major with one focus are missing. A liberal approach to education should be taught in college because it helps students become more open minded in the sense that they will learn how to be analytical to the next level.
If universities idea is to make students “capable and cultivated human beings” then their curriculum should reflect an educational system that focuses on a broad sense of culture not just classes that are meant to prepare you for a single study field.
