As a college student with loans myself, I think that higher education is worth the investment. However, I do wish there could be less of a burden because I know that as soon as I graduate I will soon need to start paying off the considerably small amounts of loans that I owe myself. I think that the conversation regarding the cost of higher education is something that needs to be continued and because it is a pressing issue that is greatly affecting our generation. The risk of taking out loans and facing challenges like not finishing and earning the degree or the risk of graduating and not obtaining a job that will bring in a return on the investment is something that haunts many students or aspiring students today. I think that it is important to note that there are things such as subsidized loans, which is what I have, where I will not be paying the accumulated interest. Although there are ways in which we can decrease our loans, we still have to pay them back and that is a thought that is frightful to anyone. Higher education should not bring about this fear when it comes to finances because it should be accessible to anyone and everyone, but unfortunately this will not become true until these conversations continue and fights for educational reform policies succeed. College should not be a fearful thing to achieve as it is to many like myself, but rather just a step towards a career path.
