Even still, till this day while I can openly admit I’m still a tad bit worried once my short 4 years of high school are up, but nothing like it was before. Yet here I am my Jr year writhing this blog to try to tell you why oh why I chose to join the SWAG program. I can sit here and write to you that I joined because I didn’t want to be afraid anymore.
Growing up is a part of life but that doesn’t mean you have to be scared of doing so. SWAG offered an opportunity to communicate with a peer that’s one step ahead of me. My mentor is a freshman at Rice University in Houston Texas and he’s helped a lot in understanding what I have to do to get to where he’s at so that I my be successful. No longer was I afraid for the unknown of the future to come but I instead am ready to embrace it. My one true Goal now is to get into Stephen F. Austin the college of my dreams and graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Yes, the road to get there will be rough but with enough effort, I know I can make it and peruse the line of work I come to love. Thank you SWAG for all you have done for me and sticking with me every step of the way.
