Dr. Ron Soligo
Ronald Soligo is a Professor Emeritus who joined the economics department in 1967. Professor Soligo earned his PhD from Yale University and prior to coming to Rice held positions with the Yale-Pakistan project in Karachi and Assistant Professor at Yale. His areas of expertise include issues in economic development and energy economics. Dr. Soligo is also interested in educational equality. This interest stems from his own experiences growing up in Canada in a working-class family and also his recent research with SWAG Co-Founder Raj Salhotra. Soligo and Salhotra researched income inequality and social mobility and identified education as the crucial lever to expanding opportunity. Soligo co-founded the Summer Writing Program with Raj Salhotra wherein graduating seniors meet weekly to improve their writing skills.
